A graduate of Hope College, Jonathan Scott Hoffman is a business speaker and the writer of a book featuring the works of artist Craig Rubadoux. Jonathan Scott Hoffman has been associated with the School Zone Publishing Company since 1990 and holds the dual positions of president and CEO within the Grand Haven, MI-based company.

School Zone Publishing Company was initially founded about 40 years ago by husband-and-wife team James and Joan Hoffman as a retail outlet for teachers. Gradually, it expanded to become a prominent publisher of workbooks and flashcards for children ranging in age from preschoolers to sixth graders.

Today, the company specializes in the invention of creative tools for young children engaged in at-home learning. Over 5,000 stores and 50,000 outlets in 49 countries throughout the world carry the educational materials produced by School Zone.

School Zone Publishing has produced many award-winning products. The company’s accolades include its educational software design being deemed the “Most Elegant Interface” by Apple’s Human Interface Design Excellence awards in 1996.

In 2015, an educational tablet for small kids named “Little Scholar” was selected as one of the finalists for the prestigious Educational Toy of the Year award.

About Jonathan Scott-Peter Hoffman

With more than 25 years of experience in education publishing, Jonathan Scott-Peter (Scott Peter) Hoffman works as president and chief executive officer for School Zone Publishing Company located in Grand Haven, Michigan. His educator parents James and Joan founded the firm in 1979 as a way for teachers to purchase educational items at a retail supply outlet. Shortly thereafter, they determined there was a need for at-home learning materials for parents to support their children’s classroom instruction. Jonathan Scott-Peter Hoffman began working for the company in 1989.

Under Mr. Hoffman’s guidance, the family-owned School Zone Publishing Company has printed more than 350 million books and in 2013 created an educational tablet for children. This tablet, entitled the Little Scholar, is a literacy tool that teaches kids to read and do math. Created by experts in education, Little Scholar features more than 100 e-books, 200 software applications, specific educational videos, and a television show called “Charlie and Company.” The Little Scholar earned accolades in 2015 and was a finalist for the educational Toy of the Year Award (TOTY) awarded by the Toy Industry Association.

Mr. Hoffman earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He took additional courses in business administration and management from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
